Become a 2026 D2, D5, or D10 Delegate

TAG News / no comments

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) is subdivided by geographic region into Districts. TAG represents animation workers in three of those Districts:

  • District 2 represents approximately 45,000 IATSE members Arizona, California, Hawai‘i, and Nevada.
  • District 5 represents approximately 2,600 IATSE members in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
  • District 10 represents approximately 24,000 IATSE members in New York and New Jersey.

The annual D2, D5, and D10 conventions are opportunities for Delegates from each District to come together to make connections, share issues and concerns, attend sessions to learn more about labor issues, and establish solidarity. Delegates represent their Locals as they address issues that are important to not just their own unions, but to all their kin in the entertainment industry.

Every year The Animation Guild can send a set number of delegates to each convention. As Delegates, TAG members are assigned to at least one committee and expected to take part in committee discussions and actions, and then hear and approve actions from all the various committees.

The 2026 conventions will meet as follows:

  • District 5: May in Dallas (details to come)
  • District 10: Saturday, May 30, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City in New Jersey
  • District 2: Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the San Diego InterContinental Hotel.

The process to become a delegate requires a nomination at the General Membership Meeting on March 31, 2026, at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST. RSVP for the GMM here

All Active members in Good Standing (no fees owed, dues fully paid up) are eligible to be elected.

If you want to be nominated and can attend the GMM:

  • When the time comes, you can simply nominate yourself or have another person nominate you, after which you accept the nomination.

If you want to be nominated and can’t attend the GMM:

  • Email the Executive Board Secretary, Jeanette Moreno King, at jeanette.king@tag839.org, by 5 p.m. PST on March 31, 2026. Include this message: “I confirm that I will accept a nomination to be a delegate at the 2026 [D2, D5 or D10] convention.” Please state the District you are eligible to be nominated for.
  • Ask someone attending the GMM to nominate you. Jeanette can make the nomination for you, if you choose.

Should we receive fewer delegate nominations than votes afforded us, our Secretary will cast a unanimous vote for all candidates and shall dispense with the requirement of a secret ballot vote for the office of Delegate per Article Six, Section Six of our Constitution. Should we receive more candidate nominations than votes afforded us, we will engage the American Arbitration Association to hold a secret ballot election of the membership as soon as practicable. The certified results of that election will set our official delegation.

While we have new members in states outside California, each state belongs to a different district with different conventions. Those members not in the states represented by D2—Arizona, California, Hawai‘i, and Nevada—are not eligible to be Delegates for the D2 convention. But if a vote is necessary, they may cast a vote for D2 Delegates. As we learn more about conventions for our members in other districts, we will share that information.
