AI Committee

Last month, the AI Committee investigated reports from members, Field Reps, and Shop Stewards about AI usage at studios. Members of the committee spoke to journalists and podcasts about the importance of labor protections around AI, and attended meetings with the Creators Coalition on AI to hear their plan and ensure that animation is represented in broader advocacy efforts. The AI Committee has been working on gathering resources for members to know their rights in terms of AI use in the workplace, and they have been coordinating with other Locals to gauge the impact AI will have on other crafts. The AI Committee has plans to host presentations in order to inform members on contractual protections and what they can do to support the committee’s work

The AI Committee meets on a weekly basis every Wednesday at 1 p.m. If you would like to participate in the AI Committee or attend a meeting, email ai@tag839.org to join their mailing list and get more information.

Young Workers Committee (NYC)

Leading up to contract negotiations that started last week, the NYC Young Workers Committee has been focused on raising membership awareness and engagement. On Saturday, Mar 14, 2026, beginning at 2 p.m. they will host   an afternoon of life drawing  at the Museum of Natural History. The Committee is looking forward to spending a relaxing day with the colleagues, raising engagement for contract negotiations in the process. Also, the Chairs of the NYC Young Workers Committee, Rose Kang and Natalie Arenzon, are thrilled to announce that they have been nominated to attend the 2026 Young Workers Committee Conference this summer and are looking forward to learning more about how to grow their committee and engage with other Locals. This Committee wants members to know that even though they are the “Young Workers Committee” all members are welcome and encouraged to attend all events. The Committee hopes to help bridge the gap between young workers and more experienced workers to foster a more integrated community of animation industry professionals.

If anyone wants to join the NYC Young Workers Committee, you can reach them at:  nycywc839@gmail.com
