Timing Committee
In July the Timing Committee held a meeting via Zoom with new and returning committee members. Since the removal of unit-rate pay, effective in the 2024-2027 TAG Master Agreement, working conditions for Timing Directors on active and recent productions have greatly improved. However, some studios have quietly invented new ways to effectively make daily and weekly minimums behave more like unit rates, such as imposing a maximum cap on the number of hours or days the worker may bill for an assignment.
If you are a Timer, you are urged to not work “ghost” (unpaid) hours and asked to keep notes of how and when you are pressured to cap your hours. Please notify the Timing Committee and/or the Field Rep for your studio so that TAG can work to resolve issues with problem studios.
Volunteers are needed for the following:
- To serve as the next Timing Committee Co-Chair
- To represent the timing craft on the Negotiations Committee for the 2027 Master Agreement
You can learn the ropes at a Negotiations Committee training, open to all TAG members and will be held the first Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. PST / 1 p.m. EST on Zoom throughout the rest of 2026. Register at tinyurl.com/TAGMETraining2026.
The next Timing Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 28 at 7 p.m. PST on Zoom. Please contact the Timing Committee for the link.

Young Workers Committee – NYC
Last weekend, the New York Young Workers Committee attended the IATSE Young Workers Committee Conference in Toronto. They had an amazing experience, watched lots of informative presentations, and left feeling inspired and invigorated to make changes to how they run their committee. It was humbling and empowering to connect with Young Workers from all the different Locals and see how they connect with their committees. They are excited to integrate what they learned at the conference into their committee going forward.
