AI Committee
In August the AI Committee participated in the CCAI Standards summit, met with The LA Fed AI working group regarding upcoming legislation, and connected with Jillian Arnold, the new IATSE Labor & Technology Intelligence Officer. Additionally, they collaborated with the Hollywood Young Workers Committee to foster interlocal AI discussions and continued to monitor studio-wide industry AI usage.
The LA Fed may want to hear from animation workers about how AI is impacting the industry. If you would like to share your experiences, reach out to the AI Committee at ai@tag839.org.
The AI Committee meets weekly on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. PST on Zoom.
Design Committee
Thirteen members of the Design Committee met at their general meeting this past week. They worked together on a draft of a craft survey. They hope to put out the survey to TAG members in design crafts to help plan for negotiations. Any Design members interested in assisting with the Design Committee survey, or who would like to contribute to Design-related proposals, should reach out and join the Design Discord Server.

Memorial Committee
Since January, the Memorial Committee has been working on an ongoing spreadsheet listing animation colleagues who have left us this year. On the 22nd of August, the committee began the task of assigning committee members to serve as outreach for every honored member. In addition to sourcing dates, photos, and credits for the program bios. The main focus of their outreach is to locate individuals to speak of, or create a video tribute on behalf of each honoree at the Afternoon of Remembrance.
The Afternoon of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 30th 2027 from 12pm – 4pm at The Animation Guild.

Production Committee
For August, the Production Committee focused on power mapping. The committee and its volunteers are making a concentrated effort to encourage a larger turnout at upcoming meetings to temperature check engagement and the readiness of the unit as they look ahead to new contract pathways. They’ve added two new Production Captains to their ranks. Their work will be crucial in helping to keep the many production workers across the studios and shows updated and informed. On Saturday, August 29, the committee held their first text bank to check on attendance ahead of the September meeting.
The Production Committee is looking for Captains to help be the megaphones for production. Their goal is to have seven of the 14 studios covered by the end of the year, and they are inching closer to that goal. They are also looking for Production volunteers to help plan mixers, flyers, and foster deeper connections between production members. The goal is to have 10 volunteers. They currently have four. Writers Craft Committee
In August the Writers Craft Committee hosted a presentation from the Writing Teams Subcommittee about how writing teams work together. The committee also held the first TAG Reads, Live! event in which guest voice actors read TAG members’ scripts in front of an audience. The event was a great success with standing room only.

Young Workers Committee (L.A.)
The first event for this fall from the Young Workers Committee – L.A. will be this Friday, September 4. Members are invited to sketch with the committee at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, during their free admission hours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Find out more and RSVP here.

Young Workers Committee (New York)
The Young Workers Committee – New York is nearing the end of its summer break. The committee hopes to organize a group for the Labor Day Parade at the end of this week. Their unit is preparing to roll on to their new health insurance and hope to be able to assist members with the onboarding process alongside TAG staff. The committee is also working alongside TAG Field Rep Leslie Simmons to create a short presentation and Q&A for upcoming college graduates about TAG, what it means to be part of a union, and the basics of organizing.
