On Saturday, Jan. 14, the LA Federation of Labor brought together people from all of the Los Angeles labor unions to celebrate the life and teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. at a breakfast event. Guest speakers include labor leaders, faith leaders and elected leaders, and all were united in reminding attendees that all labor has dignity and we are stronger together on our path forward.  Executive Board members Jeanette Moreno King, Alex Quintas, Roger Oda, Danny Ducker, and Paula Spence attended the breakfast where they heard from American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) President Lee Saunders, Senator Alex Padilla, LA Fed President Yvonne Wheeler, and LA Mayor Karen Bass, among others. The conversations helped energize and inspire the audience to build community with other labor unions in the coming year. “I love meeting with fellow IATSE kin and other union members at inter-local events like this one,” says Recording Secretary Paula Spence.  “Before we even sat down to breakfast I had reconnected with members of the Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) to share information on the IA’s Leadership Week and make plans for collaborating at next month’s BRIC Summit to find pathways into the entertainment industry for young people.”
