Once again, Labor Community Services’ Lean In & Lean On Holiday Party and Toy Drive was a great success thanks to doners and the volunteers who gave their time and energy to bring joy to union families in need. Over the course of two days, more than 90 volunteers helped to set up, run, and tear down the event that was attended by 400+ families on December 13 at Local 80. During the event, the following were distributed to union families in need.
- 300 food boxes + supplies
- 400+ Target gift cards at $20 each
- 32 full boxes of toys
A total of $42,000 in donations was raised to help cover event costs, gift cards, and the toys that were donated by union members through the Toy Drive.
There were also 10 market vendors from Locals 80, 399, 706, 800, and TAG participating in the Member Maker Marketplace.
As for fun, there were raffles, a petting zoo, Santa photos, face painting, and a bounce house, as well as 250 cotton candy indulgences, 956 churros and soft serve ice cream cones devoured, and more than 400 cups of hot cocoa and coffee consumed.
