Welcome to the Netflix Animation Studios Organizing page! A powerful majority of us have expressed our support to form our own production union and in doing so, join over 1,200 other animation production workers who’ve formed their unions with The Animation Guild (and if we’re post-production, The Motion Picture Editors Guild). Please continue to check here frequently for updates, resources, and announcements as we move forward through this process.
Our right to organize our union is protected under federal law (National Labor Relations Act) and we are protected from all the following forms of retaliation against any employee who seeks to form a union, which could be considered an Unfair Labor Practice and deemed unlawful following an investigation by the National Labor Board:
❌Threatens to close or relocate the facility.
❌Reduces Pay, benefits, or working conditions.
❌Disciplines or discharges an employee.
❌Refuses to bargain with our Union in good faith.
Where we are in the process
As of November 21, 2025
As we’ve waited for the federal government function to resume, we have been building our support for our union through each event and activity planned, all in preperation for winning our union election (also called a “recognition election”). The time is finally here: WE WILL HAVE OUR UNION ELECTION!
On Monday, December 8 from 11am- 2:30pm in the Tenant Lounge, there is IN PERSON VOTING for all Burbank office-based NAS prod. Mail ballots to remote workers go in the mail that day, too. Ballots sent by mail must be received Monday, December 29 and the results will be counted live on Zoom on Tuesday, December 30 at 1pm Pacific. If you work out of the Burbank office and cannot be in person to vote on December 8th, email the OC ASAP to try and arrange for a mail ballot (netflixprodcommittee@tag839.org).
As of October 3, 2025:
NAS has denied our request for voluntary recognition and we are proceeding with a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election. We have filed the necessary paperwork and have all received a notice about this from the company.
Our petition for an election and that notice from the company are NOT a confirmation of the date of our election, as the NLRB is a federal agency impacted by the recent government shut down. Our day will come to make our voices heard, and we will continue to keep you updated on further developments! Feel free to contact the OC with any questions.
