Constitutional Amendment Vote

Kim Fay / January 17, 2024

TAG News / no comments

At the General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. PST, a motion will be made for TAG members to vote on an amendment to the language of Article 5, Section 2 of the Guild’s Constitution and By-Laws to change the day of the GMM from the last Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November, to the last Saturday of the same months, and to give the Board the authority to adjust the meeting times if necessary.

Why is TAG voting to change the day and time of the General Membership Meeting?

  • Since TAG has been granted national jurisdiction by IATSE, and because TAG now has members in New York, Texas, Virginia, and Puerto Rico, in deference to all TAG members, the Executive Board will recommend a motion to change the day and time of the GMM to current and new members who live outside of California and the Pacific Time Zone.
  • The day and time of the GMM is written into the Guild’s constitution. The constitution cannot be changed without a vote from the membership. It’s important for as many members as possible to attend this meeting to vote on this change.

The current language of Article 5, Section 2 reads:
Section 2. MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS. (a) Regular meetings shall be held at 6:30 pm on the last Tuesday of the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November.

The proposed new language of Article 5, Section 2 is:
Section 2. MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS. (a) Regular meetings shall be held in the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November. The meetings will be held on the last Saturday of the month, at a time and place designated by the Executive Board.
